This was suggested by Robin Miner and she comments:

This is an amazing film and it will be showing at Chandler Center for the Arts.  It won best film at the Scottsdale International Film Festival which was amazing, since it is half/ movie half documentary.  If you're not able to go to this, make a note to see this great story!  It may also be showing at next month's Jewish Film Festival here in AZ.  I'll keep you posted.  If some of you do not know Chandler was awarded the next Holocaust Museum

POWER OF ONE: Nicky's Family Special Event

raises funds for Arizona's future Holocaust Museum

The Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival, in partnership with the East Valley Jewish Community Center (EVJCC) and City of Chandler, is bringing the critically-acclaimed film Nicky's Family to the Valley as part of a unique volunteer recognition and community-building event.

The Power of One: Nicky's Family event will showcase how a single person can make a tremendous difference in the world. Prior to the screening, an awards ceremony will take place honoring City of Chandler Police, Fire and exceptional community volunteers. Additionally, the event will serve as an important call to action as attendees have the opportunity to connect with many community organizations during a pre-and-post event fair. Tickets are available to purchase at www.evjcc.org or by calling (480) 897-0588.

Nicky's Family is the story of one man, Sir Nicholas Winton, who quietly organizedKindertransports that rescued 669 Czech and Slovak children before the outbreak of WWII. Now 103 years old, Winton and his accomplishments would have been all but forgotten had his wife of 50 years not found in their attic a suitcase containing documents and transport plans. The film has won 29 film awards, including 12 audience awards from U.S. film festivals. Several dozen of Winton's "children" have been found and to this day his family has grown to almost 6,000 people, many whom have gone on to great achievements.

Proceeds from this event will go towards the building of the Center for Holocaust Education & Human Dignity planned for the property located at Ray and Alma School Roads. At the event, members of the Chandler City Council will be presented with a symbolic key to the Center in appreciation for the City's support.

WHERE: Chandler Center for the Performing Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler
